About the Forum

“Philanthropy is one of those wonderfully antique words that we will stop using in 10 to 15 years. The business/social boundaries are simply collapsing.”

– Bill Drayton, Founder and CEO of Ashoka

The GW Social Enterprise Forum is a new university platform for exploring the emerging and dynamic field of social enterprise by: leveraging the resources of the surrounding community to bring valuable knowledge about social enterprise onto GW’s campus; engaging GW with both domestic and international social enterprises; and by helping open career doors in the field for GW students.

Social enterprise bridges the gap between non-profit and for-profit work by using business acumen to solve social problems. The Forum aims to strengthen this bridge by involving the GW community in exploring the power of social enterprise.
